New Year, Same Church

Happy New Year again! I hope you all are loving the new year as much as I am! One of the things I am enjoying so far is the new Come Follow Me curriculum. I can already see that it is so needed and will be so awesome for all who truly seek. I haven't taken many pictures and I won't be saying tons in this email because it was a full week of not much but it was still a good week!

Monday: We played football with all 3 zones that are centered in Laoag City and I was quarterback for my team. Syempre my team won even though I was on the opposite team of my companion. For those who don't know, I can throw pretty well. We went shopping and had dinner with Sister Barbie. We obviously partied and watch all the fireworks go off then went to bed. I'll let you decide if I was obedient or if I had fun.

Tuesday: Of course I had fun. We went to bed today. We did go out and try to talk to people but most of them were either asleep or not there so we ended up walking around for a long time. Not much ended up happening today.

Wednesday: District meeting today. Also, I had a little 3 point contest with Elder Tuiaki and let's just say I was 7/12 when we were asked to leave. People weren't really at their houses so we didn't do tons today either.

Thursday: We've started to do basketball as our morning exercises which is super fun for me. We help a member move his business and when I say move, I mean we MOVED it. We legit walked a trailer down the road(with cars going by us) with a bunch of stuff in it. It was a lot of work. They also fed us while we worked. And after we worked. And then took us to lunch right after that. I am amazed how much some people can eat. We walked to Naglikuan just to have no one at the house we were trying to go to so we went to someone else's house and they said yes to our baptismal invitation! They are wonderful kids so I hope they continue. You can see so many stars here and it is beautiful!

Friday: We didn't do much today because we weren't feeling well.

Saturday: Today was an eternity! We started out by studying and I felt like I had studied for a long time. I looked up at the clock, it wasn't even 9 yet! We went out and taught, gave another blessing and ate. We went to one of our farther areas and spent way more time there than we thought we would. We walked by a house that we were planning on just passing but we were waved in! This sweet Nanay told us that she just finished a prayer asking to see the missionaries! We talked with her for a bit and she fed us. We then walked a long way to an appointment that was supposed to be a dinner appointment but some of them were already asleep for the night so we just talked for a while and then went home. It may not seem like a long day for you but it felt like a long day for me.

Sunday: We picked up Kings and Janela(the kids that accepted the baptismal invite) and went to church. It was really interesting to only have 2 hours. The lessons went well though. We had lunch at a members house(it was their birthday). We had an area broadcast that was pretty cool. They talked about the area plan that they have had for the last 3 years and are keeping again because it is set up well. We had a lot of sisters because the sisters from Bangui and Pagudpud(4) were all here for the broadcast and they wanted to spend p-day with those of us in Pasuquin.

New Companion!

This is Elder Saberdo. He's my new companion here in Ballesteros. He's great! Now that you know him, I can get to my week. A lot happened but mostly we just visited the members this week so that they could meet Elder Saberdo. We also met this Nanay on Saturday night and just kind of invited her to church. The member we were working with that day waited until after our conversation to tell us that she is crazy. On Sunday, she came to church and started asking people for money and apparently, later after we left, she started calling people devils and went hysterical so one of the members called the police. So that was super fun. But, on another note, my companion has a super strong testimony so our lessons have been going great! I'm excited for this next week! I hope you all had and will have a great week! I love you all and I know that God has a plan for you! He will help you through anything you have a problem with if you just pray to Him!

Transfers!

Guess what?! I'm getting transferred! I know I sound happy about it but I have mixed feelings. I know it is where I am meant to go, I'm excited, but I also know I will miss Pasuquin and the people that make it great. It feels like I am going to be leaving my home all over again. We good though! I think this experience will truly be for my good! Also, I can brag that I out lived 5 sisters in Pasuquin! So this week, we had our interviews with President Peterson and I realized while we were there that I feel so comfortable talking with them so I was happy to find that out about myself. It was a good interview.  We also had another great lesson with someone Elder Dagulo and I found last week so that was awesome! Sisters Autufuga and Mariano are going home and I am going to Cagayan! I'm going specifically to an area called Ballesteros. I am not only transferring but also becoming the senior companion! That is super crazy for me. Elder Dagulo is going to have Elder Peterson (a ...

Happy Father's Day!

So Happy Father's Day to all those fathers and future fathers out there. Also, Happy Birthday Kenzie! This week has been a lot better so thank you for all the prayers that you may have sent my way! We had some great experiences this week but the highlight for this week was for sure Friday and Saturday. Friday, we had the baptismal interview for Maricel and she, obviously, passed so that was super cool then we went to another appointment with the Ulibas family. This is just a sweet Nanay and her son that have been super welcoming to us. That is actually where that picture with the Buko(coconut) came from. We taught them Lesson 1 and the spirit was so strong. It was one of those lessons where I was speaking words in Tagalog that I didn't know but I just threw them out because they felt right and it ended up being the right sentence structure and the right words so even my companion was surprised afterwards by how much Tagalog I spoke. But the lesson went great and they received ...
