Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Monday: We tried Jollibee. It was pretty good. Not my favorite but okay. We also ate cookies at the mission home. We had dinner with sister Barbie and her family and we laughed so much. We went caroling with some RM's and gave out Ang Anklat Ni Mormon to the people we sang to. We are going to try to come back and talk to those people later.

Tuesday: It didn't really feel like Christmas in the morning and I'm sure you can guess why. NO SNOW! I opened my presents and I thank those of you that sent them even though I carried them all the way to the Philippines. They were much appreciated and will be used. The day got better once we went to the branch Christmas party. It was a blast and I sang a duet with Sister Gibbon and a solo. We had 2 lunches and 2 dinners and I was stuffed after the first lunch so I just continued to stuff the food in and I was super stuffed after the second lunch. The second dinner was one that I ate a lot in even though I was full because it was just that good. The best gift of Christmas for me didn't come today though.

Wednesday: It came today. I CALLED HOME!!! So nice to be able to talk face to face with my family! That was for sure the best gift I got for Christmas this year. We then had District meeting and the Zone Leaders came so we could do exchanges. I went to Laoag with Elder Clark and Elder Tuiaki stayed in Pasuquin with Elder Cabasal. Elder Clark is from Ohio and 6ft 7 so it was 2 tall white guys walking together. You know people loved us. It was interesting to be with someone that had been on their mission for a while. If I haven't said yet, my trainer has only been on his mission 6 months longer than me so he doesn't have the veteran missionary mindset yet. Elder Clark had his 1 year mark when I came on my mission. He is super outgoing and talks to everyone! We talked to almost every person on the Jeepney to Laoag. By we, I mean he taught me some phrases so I could talk to people too. We taught some great lessons to some people that we just kind of walked up to and I really didn't speak much Tagalog but we could tell that the people really felt the spirit when we spoke. It was super cool.

Thursday: So Elder Clark is so great. He was a rapper before his mission so that's pretty cool also we have the same first name. We were also staying in the "mansion." It is pretty big and has air con so it is pretty nice. They also have a shower. We met with one of their progressing investigators and we were talking about what we did on Christmas. So of course I said that I sang for it. Elder Clark asked for a sample so I sang for them even though I am a little sick and he said later that it really help the investigator to open up. That was pretty cool. We worked really hard in the morning then came back to the mansion to study and wait for Elders Cabasal and Tuiaki. We were waiting for a long time. They ended up getting there 2-3 hours late because of the traffic in Bacarra. Elder Tuiaki and I ran into that same traffic on the way back to Pasuquin. It was a good exchanges though.

Friday: The bakeries are so good and so cheap here! We were a little hungry while we were finding people so we went to a bakery. We talked to a lot of people but most of them are busy preparing for New Years so most of the people we talked to said to come back after the 2nd(Some days to recover from New Years parties). The weather has been awesome for the last few days! There is a typhoon hitting a more Southern part of the Philippines so we are getting hit by the tip of it so it is cloudy and in the 70's which is perfect weather for me. It is a little cold for the people here though. I see a lot of sweatshirts and long sleeves and it makes me laugh every time.

Saturday: Super good weather again today but as we get closer to New Years, less people have time to talk to us so we didn't teach much but we still tried and we studied a bit. Not much happened to day though.

Sunday: Last day of 3 Hour church! Also 5th Sunday lesson! We had a little confusion in our branch because some people didn't know that church was only 1 hour last week and that didn't carry over to this week too and some others forgot it was the 5th Sunday so we started priesthood when the R.S. asked if we were going to join them. It turned out good though. Sacrament meeting was good as always and we were asked to pass the sacrament. I am super excited for the new curriculum! I'm excited to use it and see how others use it. It truly is inspired and puts the responsibility of getting something out of you study on your shoulders. There was a parade that went by our house. We didn't really see it though because we were resting and studying at the moment and were too tired to go watch it. We tried to do some finding in the center but ended up talking to the members there. The youth here are so fun to be with. I'm super excited for this next week!

Happy New Year and I hope, if you set goals, you will set a goal to be more Christlike! I love you all!

New Companion!

This is Elder Saberdo. He's my new companion here in Ballesteros. He's great! Now that you know him, I can get to my week. A lot happened but mostly we just visited the members this week so that they could meet Elder Saberdo. We also met this Nanay on Saturday night and just kind of invited her to church. The member we were working with that day waited until after our conversation to tell us that she is crazy. On Sunday, she came to church and started asking people for money and apparently, later after we left, she started calling people devils and went hysterical so one of the members called the police. So that was super fun. But, on another note, my companion has a super strong testimony so our lessons have been going great! I'm excited for this next week! I hope you all had and will have a great week! I love you all and I know that God has a plan for you! He will help you through anything you have a problem with if you just pray to Him!

Transfers!

Guess what?! I'm getting transferred! I know I sound happy about it but I have mixed feelings. I know it is where I am meant to go, I'm excited, but I also know I will miss Pasuquin and the people that make it great. It feels like I am going to be leaving my home all over again. We good though! I think this experience will truly be for my good! Also, I can brag that I out lived 5 sisters in Pasuquin! So this week, we had our interviews with President Peterson and I realized while we were there that I feel so comfortable talking with them so I was happy to find that out about myself. It was a good interview.  We also had another great lesson with someone Elder Dagulo and I found last week so that was awesome! Sisters Autufuga and Mariano are going home and I am going to Cagayan! I'm going specifically to an area called Ballesteros. I am not only transferring but also becoming the senior companion! That is super crazy for me. Elder Dagulo is going to have Elder Peterson (a ...

Happy Father's Day!

So Happy Father's Day to all those fathers and future fathers out there. Also, Happy Birthday Kenzie! This week has been a lot better so thank you for all the prayers that you may have sent my way! We had some great experiences this week but the highlight for this week was for sure Friday and Saturday. Friday, we had the baptismal interview for Maricel and she, obviously, passed so that was super cool then we went to another appointment with the Ulibas family. This is just a sweet Nanay and her son that have been super welcoming to us. That is actually where that picture with the Buko(coconut) came from. We taught them Lesson 1 and the spirit was so strong. It was one of those lessons where I was speaking words in Tagalog that I didn't know but I just threw them out because they felt right and it ended up being the right sentence structure and the right words so even my companion was surprised afterwards by how much Tagalog I spoke. But the lesson went great and they received ...
