Happy Thanksgiving!

What a week! We had all sorts of spiritual experiences. Just remember that you can all email me at stephen.brousseau@myldsmail.net I would love your emails!

Friday: We emailed and did laundry for a lot of the day. We did baptisms because Elder Jones had some family names that he wanted to do so that was fun to do again. I got a few packages today! They were from the Arkells(My neighbors) and the Centenos(Sister Centeno's parents) so thanks to them!

Saturday: We taught 2 lessons and we both felt good about how the lessons went and if we taught by the spirit which we did. We couldn't place a feeling we both had. It felt like we were forgetting something but we couldn't place what it was. We had another one of those Saturday talks that seem to keep happening. This one was what made us go on our missions. It was a really eye opening talk because we all had different stories but the one thing that was a constant was the Atonement. We all decided that the Atonement was and is the reason we are on our missions.

Sunday: We got to do the sacrament prayers which is cool but we had to do them in complete Tagalog and let me tell you if you don't already know, Tagalog phrases are longer than English phrases. For example: Pananampalataya is the word for Faith. They are really long prayers in Tagalog so that was fun. We also taught the lesson in District Council just before that which went well. Sacrament meeting went well though even with the 5 minute prayers. During our mural ponder time, we went to Moses parting the Red Sea which is by far one of my favorite murals. We went to choir and Brother Eggett gave us some back story for the song "More Holiness Give Me" and it really added to my love for that song. There are a lot of qualities that we need to have in that song. We had a devotional about #LighttheWorld that went well. The Sunday video that we watched was "The Testaments." For those who don't know, that is a story of the Americas and the few that believed and were able to see both signs of Jesus and then see Jesus in person. It brings the spirit well.

Monday: Elder Collinwood was sick today and went back to the residence after dinner instead of class. I got a nice package from the Andersons(My neighbors) that I was super excited about. We didn't do much else today.

Tuesday: We went into the computer lab to listen to some Tagalog phrases and at one point we just heard Sister Aquino busting up. She had been listening to Elder Feletoa's LSA where he was singing because he didn't realize that it was recording. It was super funny. We gave Elder Collinwood a blessing because he has been sick for the past 2 days and he asked me to be the voice. It was super powerful to be the voice of a blessing with 6 missionaries in the circle. He started feeling better later that day so I know it worked. We had a devotional with Elder and Sister Ringwood. Sister Nelson-Ringwood(yes President Nelson's daughter) spoke about enduring to the end and wow does she speak like her dad. Elder Ringwood spoke about seeing the Lord's hand in our everyday life. It really brought the spirit.

Wednesday: We did service today. We also got chosen as runners for our service project tomorrow so we had a training meeting. While we were there, President Ralphe got up and said, "There has been an accident... the power will go out in a few minutes so don't freak out when that happens." We continued on with our training and on our way back to class, the power went out but we still got to learn things. It was cool to see that missionaries are more reliable than the US post. It didn't matter that we had essentially no power, (we did have back up power for some of the lights) we still gave all we had to the Lord in our lesson.

Thursday: Thanksgiving! This was a great day to be in the MTC even though I was sad to miss out on celebrating with my family. Elder Jones and I went to choir for the General Authority Fireside where we sang "Let Zion In Her Beauty Rise" that really set the mood for Devotional with Elder and Sister Uchtdorf! We got so excited to hear that it was them! That devotional really set the mood for the rest of the day and brought the spirit. They talked about Thanksgiving and missionary work which may surprise you. They also talked about how gratitude brings happiness. You could feel the spirit so strongly. He then spent about 20 minutes going through the crowd to talk to some missionaries and I could tell just how much he cares about the missionaries of the church. We then had our Thanksgiving lunch (they wanted the workers to be able to go home for Thanksgiving dinner) which was pretty good. We then had a devotional with Sister Eubank and she talked about our reasons to be out on a mission but also how Jesus served. The service project was next and we made a lot of meals for people in need. My companion even got on the news though they spelled his name wrong. We had a sack dinner in our classroom before going to see "The Other Side of Heaven." I love that movie! The last thing of the day was a musical devotional and we had Tanner James who was on the voice come and Michael Dowdel (I don't actually know how to spell it) who has played guitar for all sorts of stuff. They really shared their testimonies of the Savior through their music. They put up the Christmas lights so we went out and took pictures outside of the lights while they were playing Christmas music. It was a really good day full of the spirit!

New Companion!

This is Elder Saberdo. He's my new companion here in Ballesteros. He's great! Now that you know him, I can get to my week. A lot happened but mostly we just visited the members this week so that they could meet Elder Saberdo. We also met this Nanay on Saturday night and just kind of invited her to church. The member we were working with that day waited until after our conversation to tell us that she is crazy. On Sunday, she came to church and started asking people for money and apparently, later after we left, she started calling people devils and went hysterical so one of the members called the police. So that was super fun. But, on another note, my companion has a super strong testimony so our lessons have been going great! I'm excited for this next week! I hope you all had and will have a great week! I love you all and I know that God has a plan for you! He will help you through anything you have a problem with if you just pray to Him!

Transfers!

Guess what?! I'm getting transferred! I know I sound happy about it but I have mixed feelings. I know it is where I am meant to go, I'm excited, but I also know I will miss Pasuquin and the people that make it great. It feels like I am going to be leaving my home all over again. We good though! I think this experience will truly be for my good! Also, I can brag that I out lived 5 sisters in Pasuquin! So this week, we had our interviews with President Peterson and I realized while we were there that I feel so comfortable talking with them so I was happy to find that out about myself. It was a good interview.  We also had another great lesson with someone Elder Dagulo and I found last week so that was awesome! Sisters Autufuga and Mariano are going home and I am going to Cagayan! I'm going specifically to an area called Ballesteros. I am not only transferring but also becoming the senior companion! That is super crazy for me. Elder Dagulo is going to have Elder Peterson (a ...

Happy Father's Day!

So Happy Father's Day to all those fathers and future fathers out there. Also, Happy Birthday Kenzie! This week has been a lot better so thank you for all the prayers that you may have sent my way! We had some great experiences this week but the highlight for this week was for sure Friday and Saturday. Friday, we had the baptismal interview for Maricel and she, obviously, passed so that was super cool then we went to another appointment with the Ulibas family. This is just a sweet Nanay and her son that have been super welcoming to us. That is actually where that picture with the Buko(coconut) came from. We taught them Lesson 1 and the spirit was so strong. It was one of those lessons where I was speaking words in Tagalog that I didn't know but I just threw them out because they felt right and it ended up being the right sentence structure and the right words so even my companion was surprised afterwards by how much Tagalog I spoke. But the lesson went great and they received ...
